Aleira® FAQs
1. What is ALEIRA®?
ALEIRA is a science based health supplement that is designed to support horses with allergy or respiratory irritation including heaves and pulmonary issues.
2. What benefits does ALEIRA provide to my horse?
ALEIRA may help maintain normal breathing in horses that exhibit breathing issues, nasal discharge. Research has shown that DHA and MSM have anti-inflammatory properties that ALEIRA uses to support normal respiratory health and function. ALEIRA also contains a proprietary blend of mushrooms from Mushroom Matrix® that provides antioxidant support and may maintain normal respiratory function in horses with respiratory impairment such as heaves or asthma-like symptoms.
3. What is DHA?
ALEIRA contains DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), an Omega-3 fatty acid. The anti-inflammatory properties of DHA may support healthy respiratory function in horses with common allergies.
4. What is the source of the DHA Omega-3 used in ALEIRA?
The DHA used in ALEIRA is refined from a vegetarian, renewable micro-algae source.
5. How is your DHA source different than other DHA found in fish-oil?
The microalgae used are grown in a FDA-inspected facility and do not contain oceanic pollutants or toxins that may be found in fish sources. Because horses are by nature vegetarians, DHA from fish oil has been shown to cause palatability issues. Furthermore, micro-algae are a sustainable source of DHA, whereas some fish sources may not be sustainable. ALEIRA is also free of genetically modified organisms.
6. What is MSM?
Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is a naturally occurring sulfur compound that has anti-inflammatory properties. MSM may be effective in reducing seasonal allergy symptoms.
7. What is the mushroom blend in ALEIRA?
The mushroom blend in ALEIRA is a proprietary mixture by Mushroom Matrix® of Cordiceps, Ganoderma and Pleurotus mushrooms. Cordiceps and Ganoderma mushrooms have demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties and may alleviate symptoms related to airway inflammation. Pleurotus mushroom provides L-ergothioneine, an anti-oxidant that supports oxidative balance in lung tissue.
8. In what form is ALEIRA available?
ALEIRA is a powder that is available in pails of 45 or 90 servings.
9. How should I store ALEIRA?
ALEIRA should be stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and resealed between uses.
10. How do I administer ALEIRA?
Adult horses should be orally administered 30 grams or approximately 1/2 scoop (provided) of ALEIRA daily. Dosing based on an 1100 pound horse.
11. Will my horse like ALEIRA?
In palatability tests, ALEIRA has been shown to be palatable. Allow at least three days for your horse to acclimate to the administration of the health product.
